Yoga for Pelvic Organ Support

It is common knowledge that pregnancy, delivery and the demands of motherhood can be strenuous on a woman’s body. Every woman manages and recovers from this experience in a different manner. But it is reported that 20% of women will have surgery to repair a pelvic organ prolapse and many of these women will not be guided through this phase of their lives. There is no standard practice to screen for this postpartum, or even to educate women about their risk of this condition. Symptoms for POP aren’t always as obvious as an organ falling out of the body. Many symptoms can be disguised as just another aspect of recovering from birth so we will explore what other signs to look for. Research indicates that pelvic organ prolapse can potentially be prevented or reversed with directed exercises, understanding the intra-abdominal pressure system, specific breathing and management techniques.

All level and experience welcome. Women with a medical diagnosis are encouraged to join but this is also a wonderful prevention style course for expecting mothers. Eligible for CEU’s through Yoga Alliance.
